The max roof pressure is indeed 50kg (metnioned in the manual), this is including the Thule roofbars and roofbox.

BTW: do you have a panoramic roof, if so , can you still open it even when the roofbox is on the roof?
Good morning Renzo,

I don’t have the panoramic roof, so can’t answer that question.

Wish I’d found this forum/thread a few weeks ago. I’ve been in the process of buying a roof rack and box ( due to the boot not having enough space when going on holiday).

Can confirm the Thule 118cm bars and 7104 foot pack fit perfectly.
If anyone is also after a roof box the Thule XT motion in medium is also a good fit. No front over hang and allows the boot to fully open. Also has a cut out for the roof antenna. Height with bars and box is approximately 198cm (I’ve given myself an additional 5cm on top of that for piece of mind when entering a car park).

It’s been mentioned in the thread that the roof limit is 75KG. I was under the impression that it’s 50kg. Is anyone able to confirm the max weight limit please.

PS really enjoying the Formentor. I seem to find new features on a daily basis 😃
Hi are these the wing bar evo’s at 118cm? I’m literally scouring the internet looking for a suitable set up. 👍🏼

Yep those are the ones I have. Black evo wing bars 711220. Any bigger than 118cm will over hang

Great. Yes I’m looking at the black ones myself as I’m getting a black VZ2 in just over a week. 😬😬
Thanks for your help.

I was very disappointed about the 50kg limit on roof capacity! Our thule roof box is 25kg (still it is the xxl one so a bit of a beast, but the a
Smaller ones only save a few kgs)... So plus the rack that probably leaves about 20kg or less in capacity.

It seems to me that the raised bars look nice but limit the strength...

I tried my old 127 thule bars on the car and the cut outs underneath meant that they couldn't get close enough together for the Formentor

Good morning Renzo,

I don’t have the panoramic roof, so can’t answer that question.
OK Thanks, maybe someone else can advise on the panoramic roof question?

Just did some calculation on the total weight (in your case, hopefully i took the correct kg's)
- Foot pack 1.8kg (7104)
- Wingbar Evo 118cm 5kg (7112)
- Roofbox Motion XT 17.5kg
In total 24.3kg.......only leave us 25.7kg to load......that is not much at all.

Could you post (or PM) a picture how it looks like on your Formentor?

Sure will post a pic, but will have to post at a later date.

Fully get what your saying on the weight limit front. I'll be packing awkward luggage such as body boards, deck chairs, helmets etc etc (quite light stuff which would consume large amounts of boot space)

Yeah, happened to me too as mentioned. Flog them on eBay and get the correct ones from there too, happy hunting!

Well all, this must be bargain of the century, had the Thule ones on backup pending these being tested. I genuinely can't believe how good they are for the price. Seriously, save your money, sack Thule off and get a pair of these, I fitted them in under 10 minutes and they look class!

I have a VZ2 310ps and have fitted some old Thule roof bars and roof box. I bought them 20 years ago for a Leon Cupra and changed the foot pack so I could fit the roof bars to an old cars roof bars. The last car that I used them on was a VW Touran. I can have the sunroof tilted and fully open although it gets noisy if you are travelling more than 30mph. On the move with the sunroof closed it wasn’t much louder than normal. I tried launch control for the first time with the roof box fitted but empty up to 100mph and it was all fine.

I have just purchased a Formentor and had to add a tow bar so I can put two electric mountain bikes on the rear of the car and tow bar costs 1420 bike rack another 500 and that is before you take into account the price of the two bikes

Hi Renzo, just wondering where you've seen this?

Looking at the manual it says this

Weights Load - on the roof The maximum authorised load on the roof of your vehicle is 75 kg.

You are right! See here. They have changed the weight in the June version of the manual on their website...

I hope this is a revision for all cars and not just the latest manufactured cars. I may send my dealer an email to check....

https://www.cupraofficial.com/owners/cupra-car-model-manuals.html

it was from the manual dated : 02.2021
Page 141:
Maximum authorised cargo on the roof.
The maximum permissible roof load is 50 kg.
This figure comes from the combined weight of the roof carrier, the cross bars and the load itself on the roof.

Indeed the new manual dated : 06.2021 is showing different.....
Page 142:
Maximum authorised cargo on the roof.
The maximum permissible roof load is 75 kg.
This figure comes from the combined weight of the roof carrier, the cross bars and theload itself on the roof

That means that they now increase the roof pressure with 25kg, a big increase, let hope this is indeed the case as it will make things better........

I was going to say, a 50% increase isn't something to be sniffed out. Perhaps the original was a typo but I might speak to my dealer too to be on the safe side. That comfortably gives us 50kg even after bars and box are added which would be great

I have sent a mailing to cupraofficial......i highlighted the 50kg vs 75kg and asked them to confirm.
Next to that I also asked if it matters which version cupra formentor you drive.....(i would not expect so, but still want to have that also black on white)
When they give me a reply I will share it with you guys.
