Any ideas as to when the 2.2 replaced the 2.1 versions of the RNS 310?

I'm assuming the main differences between the two are the 7 digit postcode recognition?
And can the 2.1 be upgraded to 2.2?

Sorry for the questions, I'm just curious as I have an RNS 510 and the later v7 software is far and away better than the earlier versions, so I wondered whether the software on the 310 could be similarly upgraded easily.

Thanks :)

I have RNS 315 in mine (Tech Pack on MY11 Cupra), and it doesn't use Postcode - only address.

Ah, maybe I've got the unit model number wrong then, I'll edit the title if that's the case.
I was going by the RNS 510 so thinking the disc version was a 310(?)

It is the one fitted to a lot of 2010 onwards FRs, Cupras and Rs anyway which I assume is the Tech pack. I've lost touch a bit with newer SEATs over the last few years......

MY10 had the RNS310 and MY11 onwards have the RNS315.

Mine doesn't use a disc. No idea how/where its map info is taken from either. It was all uploaded in the stealer for delivery. Also not sure what the other versions look like - I know the one in my car is touchscreen though. It looks like this;

Cheers, that clears things up a bit. :)

I was having a read through the FR+ threads and noted that the RNS comes as standard and noted the 2.2 software mentioned.
When I had a look at a 2010 Cupra R back along I noticed the headunit looked very similar but was informed it was a 2.1, but as with all these techy things, a few months is a long time!

I think the 310 and 315 must look almost identical.

I know the only difference on the RNS 510 units is that the very latest LED lit versions have a different top right hand button, other than that all the versions look more or less identical.

The RNS 510 doesn't run with DAB though which I the latest SEAT nav units seem to come with.

Yeah, the 315 has DAB, and it's absolutely magic :)

Downside to the 315, from mine and a few other people I know who have one is that the SD card does not work until the car is warm.

7 digit postcode i believe is on the new 2.2 firmware along with voice dialing.

nav maps are loaded to both the 2.1 and 2.2 via SD card to internal SD memory.

I'm hoping that the 2.2 firmware or at least the 7 digit postcode can be uploaded to a 2.1 system as only having the had my car for 2 months i'm pretty pissed that the 2.2 out.

Other than the post code thing i found the nav to be bob on, on friday i got routed around a couple of long tail backs on the M1 and M6 which was very good.

There have been 3 RNS31# versions.

2.0 You had a CD and could load the MAPS to an SD card (4 Digit postcode) if wanted and used the voice dialing.
2.1 The MAPs came preloaded (4 Digit postcode) to internal memory but no voice dialing but you could dial the phone from the touch screen.
2.2 The MAPs come preloaded (7 Digit postcode) to internal memory voice dialing has been re added I believe.

Mine must be the 2.1 then - either that or i havent figured out how to do a voice dial. That being said, i have no idea how to find a place by postcode. Can anyone help with that?

Will take a look.

Is it a software update to enable the voice part or am I just being a gleck and not knowing how to do it? I have a button on my steering wheel to do it, but just never managed to successfully complete any voice commands.

Choose Nav
then first option on left hand side
town in Uk (gb)
start typing in the post code first two letters
switch to numbers and put in those
post code should now kick in,
it will list a number of postcodes, choose the code you want using scroll or carry on to 5th digit by backing out of select list and put in another number or switch back to letters, again you should get a list of post codes.

You can now choose post code, then street then house/flat number

If that makes sense.

It is a shame that its only 4/5 digit searches, baring in mind Tom Tom have had 7 digit for a long time.

:)

2.2 with voice will be available on all new Fr and Fr+ (MY12)

MY11 is 2.1 like mine when you power the car the system will tell you what version it is.

Pre My11 is 2.0 i believe.

Ah ok. So is that a hardware upgrade, or a software update? Seems strange 2.1 is the only one with no voice control.
