Revs rise on gear change

Hi all
Im having a problem with my 2005 LCR where the revs sometimes rise by around 500rpm when changing gear. It seems to happen above 2000rpm and more often when changing at higher revs with the clutch down and foot completly off the throttle.
It also seems to be a bit jerky when easing off the throttle to slow down especially when slightly cold.

I have plugged in a hand held fault reader and got the codes 17522 and 17526 which when cleared dont come back straight away and dont bring up the EML light.

The car doesnt run partlicularly bad or miss fire and still pulls well.

Any help would be much appreciated

Mine does exactly the same. It's been to the garage that I bought it from but I'm pretty sure they just think I have a bad habit with the accelerator/clutch changing gear (pretty sure I dont). Their official opinion was that "the revs are meant to stay high to keep performance high" but it doesn't always do it - and I'm sure the throttle is open too long. It's like it continues to open slightly for at least a second after I've released it and makes it rev up between gear changes before dropping off - especially when accelerating hard.

Anyone - am I just driving like a c*ck or is there some explanation for it? I've been quite strictly lifting off the accel before dropping the clutch to make sure it's not me.

check the connection on a switch connected to the clutch pedal, it tells the ecu you're using the clutch and drops the revs, its its not getting a signal it'll push the revs up between changes,


im not sure the LC/LCR has one, but most cars do, and this will cause this exact issue,

I had the issue with revs when changing gear and it was the clutch pedal switch in the end.

Ive still got the problem but after talking to a couple of people and reading on here it looks like the clutch pedal switch which i will be changing tomorrow so will post back on the results.
It only cost 12quid from TPS so its worth a shot.

Well i changed the switch yesterday along with my dodgy post cat lambda sensor and the car is running great now. I would definitley change the clutch pedal switch with it being cheap and less than a 5 min job if you are having similar problems tom.

Cheers for that I will give it a go. I assume it was the switch that fixed that particular issue then?

Yeah the switch has fixed the revving issue but i had two lambda fault codes aswell and it was running a little rough which is also sorted now.

Should be about £10 from the dealer or TPS.

There is also a note on the system stating "on successor model 6Q0 927 189 plunger must not be pulled". The dealer will get you the right part based on the first part number.

I also seem to have this problem but it hasnt shown anything up on Vag-com? If there is an issue with it will it show up on there?

I have this issue and I have already changed the Clutch perdal switch for one supplied by SEAT. The revs rise between gear changes making them really difficult, any other clues to this fault? cheers

You either need to clean the throttlebody or you have a vacuum/boost leak allowing air to get to the intake manifold even when the throttle butterfly is shut. Check all of the hoses that are attached to the inlet manifold for holes and splits. If one of them is split, it will be oily on the outside. Remember to check the ones that join the underside of the manifold.

Have taken out the (new) clutch padal switch & refited, seems to be fine. I have checked all the pipework and can find no evidence of a leak. I have also changed the FORGE DV back to the original. It still does it! Really annoying and spoils the drive, I am waiting for a call from Jabbasport, amybe they can help me fix this, will let u know if I get it sorted, regards
