rightho - thats cool. I'll pop into b&q on saturday then! Save me the double-priced postage!

Looks quite strong to me in the pics, so hope it is :) Just don't want it collapsing and ending up with not letting any air into the intake :(

Start off with that stuff, it should be ok at least for a while if you duct tape it. If the combo works for you, then upgrade to the good stuff.

I still can't believe how loud my DV sounds now! :D

Pabs the b & q stuff looks a bit tatty after you have moulded it to the shape you want. Jode is right though functionalitywise it will do the trick and you can always upgrade so something similar to what I just bought.I will post pics to show you the aesethic qualities of my stuff. My dv is so loud too I can't beleive it, it was hardly recognisable before the ramair/ cold air feed and now its well loud!

Also, I went to wickes and b & q but couldn't find anything smaller than 100mm (standard kitchen piping size im told). It was £7.99. Are you looking to fit 80mm which is standard or you going to mod your box?

Pabs ask j@mes as he has 100mm feed and enlarged the hole on the airbox. From memory I think he then glued end to airbox so no air leaks occured. You could always fit 100mm and squeeze the extra 20mm in ;) I kept mine 80mm so I could use hole in grille but think you will be going via fog light grilles so you will be ok? Also is your battery relocated as I'm not sure you can fit a 100mm feed easily with battery in its original position??

James' thread that helped me loads on this subject:

read the thread, well, bits of.

Gonna see what i can do, might go 80mm, might go 100mm, depends what i can get hold of.

got an option for a battery relocation kit anyway, so thats not a problem if i do go down that route.

And I'm sure it must be easy enough to reduce the 100mm down to 80mm at one end, to make it fit. A small cut in the hose and then fold it over itself kinda thing.....?

Pabs I'm sure anything is possible b & q sell reducers but I'm not sure that would work. Best to try your route. 100mm will get more air in and if you can make the airbox end work your sorted.Just have a play with it I'm sure the best route will become apparent and you soon see what you need to do to make it all work out.

right peeps....

Been to b&q - all they have is the silver stuff, in 1m lengths. the 2.5m length is £16, 1m is £8.

Does anyone know who stocks the BLACK stuff, in a 1.5m length? And not too expensive?

right - i'm assuming that 1M length is enough.

Still not sure what to do - b&q stuff was about £8, was 100mm and silver. Ideally i want black stuff, but can't find a supplier without paying at least double that.

Found some "green cold air funnels" - but they seem far too short - i think they are used for brakes and the like.

update:

I decided to stop fannying about, and I got some 100mm black hose/duct from Bill - and its good stuff. Expensive for what it is, but it'll be nice and strong, and do the job nicely.

I've also gone and smoothed my airbox - i'll do some pics at some point. Just took the main ribbed bits out from inside.

I've trial fitted the 100mm hose into the std airbox hole, and it fits with zero modification to the airbox hole. I cut along the length of the hose, about 4 inches long, folder the hose overitself a bit, making the hose diameter smaller at one end. It then slotted into the hole quite nicely.

I would assume this is better than just smaller hose, as at the other end its obviously got a bigger opening, meaning more air will be caught. Once in the hose -with nowhere to escape - it HAS to go into the airbox.

I've got some battery relocation brackets on the way, but i don't think i'll need them if DPJ is right - i could fit the hose down the side without.

Hopefully gonna fit this weekend - and then try and source a green filter from somewhere -and thats a 30second swap.

the only real thing i'm worried about is the lack of performance air filter.
I'll be running my std panel filter until i can get hold of a green filter - everywhere seems out of stock, damn :(

Just hope i get one before the RR day.

ah ok ben thanks for that - i might have to take you up on that offer.

I don't have a new paper filter, no, its my old standard filter. Its not too bad, but it has covered about 36k (unless previous owner changed it between 0-35k6)

I managed to get 100mm dia aluminium ducting fitted between the inner wing and the battery without relocating the the battery. Had to remove the clip that holds the earth lead for the battery and cut of the small threaded part that holds the clip on. (Just so it didnt rip into the ducting). Mightily impressed with the results. Just noisy enough to know its not standard, but not too loud cos its supposed to be a company car ;). Combined with the new forge dv i fitted, Im more than happy with the results for not too much money.
