Revo stage 1 linear map - flat spot? - Solved

It was just above 28 degrees doing around 70mph on the motorway and it didn't play up then.

Apparently driving at that speed allows it to keep the intake temps lower, hence why i don't get any issues. Then around town the temps are getting too high creating a flatspot here and there.

The car runs fine at night when it's alot cooler.

What are the ambient temps? IAT seems awful high for a motorway cruise but it all hinges on what the ambient temps are. From memory thermal/IAT protection starts at around 38 degrees c IAT

It said 17.5 degrees on my MFD when i left Regal and that was about 20 mins after we checked intake temps on the motorway.

Not great but about right for the standard cooler. If you're seeing temps above 38 degrees (ish) around town, then the timing will pull back and the car will feel flat, with less timing and im pretty sure less boost too.

I've experienced the ECU holding back due to IATs a few times, but i wouldnt call it a flat spot as such, just the car feeling flat as if its too hot, suddenly feels like the map has reverted back to stock mode. Once on the move again it came back to life

Bigger cooler and/or removing the A/C condenser could be the answer but i would confirm this with data logs

Thanks Dan, great info there.

When the issue occurs the car holds back for a second and then continues as normal. I was advised if the boost and timing was reduced then the issue should stop happening, but this also means less power.

He said getting an upgraded intercooler is the next step to support the intake temps. I'm on the look out for an intercooler now anyway, just don't fancy spending 500-600 on one though!
