Reverse Lights not working

If its not one thing its another of late.

The reverse lights on my 2001 Alhmabra 1.9tdi have stopped working, the light bulbs are fine and the rear fog lights on the same bracket work fine.

Am I correct in thinking Fuse #5 is the one for the rear lights?

have you checked the boot wiring ? another thing could be the switch on the gearbox

The wiring to the reverse lights seems ok, not checked the gearbox switch yet.

How did you check the boot wiring? (just a thought from one who also just the other day thought somthing looked ok from a first glance )

You should be able to measure the gearbox switch by either disconnecting the switch down in the enginebay (harder) or by measuring between fuse holder Fuse#5 15A (fuse removed) and left tailgate reversing light positive cabel (Blue/black) while working the gear stick (easier).

Admittedly it was just a visual check, making sure there was no loose connections at the bracket end, or noticeable cracks in the visible loom wiring.

I haven't gone to same lengths you've detailed, but now I know what to do I will give it a go and see what I find
