The bulb arrived during the week and I've just had a chance to change the bulbs over.
I'm happy to report a big succes. The new bulb is a great improvement to the crap output of the standard bulb.
Below are some pictures for you to compare, sorry about the quality only had my phone on me.

I hope you all agree with me this is a massive improvement over standard, still would be nice to have 2 reverse bulbs may have to look into that one further but for now I'm happy.
Oh just a little note don't look into the new Cree led bulb once you've got it in. I got a little excited, looked at it directly and I'm still seeing blue dots
Wow! That is amazing! I am going to order one - is that the ebay listing number that you put in your earlier post? £15 has got to be MUCH cheaper than getting another utside light fitted to the porch!

Bollocks, couldn't wait! Have just ordered one!

Decided to use tonights drinking vouchers on something more practical instead!

BaldyDave - was it this one you ordered? 300628659451. I NEED one of these! Off to sign in on ebay I think! :D

@CandyWight, does your 5 door Ibiza not have two reversing lights?

Yes, the eBay number you quote is correct, but please note this listing is just for a single bulb.

That's a good question! I think it's only one, but will check in the morning. Either way, still cheaper than paying a sparky to fit a new light outside which is what I was seriously considering doing!

Thanks! The bit that fits into the bulb holder looks very different in that one compared to the first link for the one you bought. I really want to get these new bulbs but will double check first as it's a lot of money if they don't fit, lol!

Yeah the 3dr uses a capless bulb like in my old post with the item number, but the 5dr uses the capped bulb for some reason, I can't understand why seat couldn't have used the same bulb between the 3 & 5dr

Seems bleedin' daft to me too! You'd think that Seat would want to standardise the bulbs they use across a model range? Purely for economy of scale if nothing else!

Just a little update for those of you with the 3dr.
This morning I thought I'd take a better look at my work and noticed the bulb wasn't really sitting right in the holder.
IMAG0107.jpg

Pictures not too clear but the bulb wasn't really pushed back as far as it could go into the contacts. The clear plastic part you can see was not allowing the bulb to go back any further because of the shape of the bulb. So that had to come out.

IMAG0106.jpg

The offending part is easy to remove there are 2 clips holding this in place just pinch both clips give it a wiggle and a good pull and it comes right out to leave you with the below.

IMAG0108.jpg

Now the bulb sits right back in the holder with a much better contact and less chance of it falling out hopefully :D

reverse bulb

it seems that seat have tried to make the new model more better looking by altering the shape of the light cluster, resulting in them having to make the reverse light a lot smaller than previous models which have a 21 watt bulb fitted as the majority of other car manufacturers do, not a 10watt bulb as in the new model cluster. also they have made the hole of the cluster small so you can not fit a conventional sized 21watt bulb
my opinion is that safety overides cosmetics and looks.

What I find crazy is that they have the two reverse lights on the clusters of the SC but choose to only use one as a light.

Dan_90 has shown us the most effective bulb so far on the SC - all we need to do now is work out how to make the other light operational.

I was looking into this issue yesterday as I think the same why bother making it look like there's 2 reversing lights then only use 1?
It doesn't look like it can be easily fixed either as Seat in all their wisdom have blanked over the hole on the drivers side so would need you to drill that out before you could even start trying to put another bulb in. More work than I really want to undertake at the moment, I'm more than happy with my 1 New bulb :D
