Reverse Light Not Working

The missus Leon MK4 went in for an MOT today and weirdly it failed on the reverse light not working. They gave her the keys and said come back next Friday, although its failed its MOT which im sure its now illegal to drive, cars still under extended warranty and they don't have a courtesy car available as they are all out on loan. Never letting her go on her own again!

So i've had a look and i'm sure previously when you put it into reverse the parking sensors pop up on screen but its not doing that now so im thinking its the reverse sensor?

I have checked all the fused etc no issues there, anyone else had anything similar or any checks i can do as desperately need the car for work and dont feel like driving on an expired and now failed MOT.

Cant see the connector on the top of the gearbox, guess it's underneath? 1.5tsi engine

yes, if it is, it is definitely under there. probably remove the underride protection too. I'm not home yet

this might sound daft but I wouldn't touch it while its under warranty with them, I know you want to find out why its not working but they can use it against you in a way of getting out of paying. They tried to do that to me recently, I had a selector fault on my 1.5 DSG Formentor, went into all gears ok, just an error on the dash so I thought maybe lose connector, they claimed the car could tell them when the selector was disconnected and claimed they would void the warranty. Ive only had the car 3 months so threatened to reject the Veeeeeeehicle and magically it was fixed, but I won't be going back to that specific dealer.

Yeah this is why i didn't do anything to it in the end and just waiting for the appointment. I'm not wasting my time and money for something i've already paid for cover on. The dealer is a massive waste of time and i will be complaining to head office for giving the car back with a failed MOT and just saying come back next Friday when its not road worthy.

So its gone in today and charged £273 for a wire set and connector which is not covered by warranty
