Revcounter/Speedo Illumination

Hi Guys.
Here's a weird one. When I turn off the ignition and take out the key of my 2001 Leon Cupra, the speedo and the revcounter illuminate after around 10 seconds or so! Nothing else on the dash lights up, and the illuminated clocks are only dimly lit, say half of the normal brightnes.
If I gently move the key around in the barrel (as if I'm gonna turn it to the on position) the illumination goes off for a nano-second, then comes back on again. Any ideas?
The car is running fine and all of the electrics are working OK so for me, it's a bit of a puzzle!
Cheers - Hoggy.

Hi goble - thanks for the idea.
I measured the battery voltage to see if there is any discernable drain occuring, but it seems stable with no noticable drop over 5 days of just sitting there looking pretty - wierd!
