I see in this thread that mirror 3G0857511AE is mentioned.

wonder what is the difference ??

(i can get 3G0857511AC cheaper thats why i ask, but the listing states its a HBA mirror for a T6 van)

the AC mirror does not have a built-in HBA camera. it is simply a frameless mirror and is on the list with HBA because the car can have a camera on the windscreen (hba, lane assist, road sign assist) and an AC mirror mounted simply

No its got the camera built in ive seen the pictures

3G0857511AK that has camera and is cheaper than AE version

Just want to know if they will work

AK - yes but AC from your post no.
But AK is for another car platform. Basically if you flash this mirror with correct software then it will be compatible with mqb platform

AE/AK/AG then. All interchangeable i assume ?

The AC mirror i can buy has the camera, as shown below maybe the seller did a DIY job on it ?

Maybe this is AG - AG is with HBA camera and next model AR also. But like i wrote in previous reply. This is model for another platform and for compatibility with mqb need to flash it with correct firmware

Im not able to flash software to cameras.

Could you confirm what mirror verisons i can use without having to flash software ?

Is it AE only that will work out of the box ?

What exactly do you mean by this i dont quite understand

I saw that on eBay today too and when I checked it on ETKA and saw that it was for PR code 8G0 (without light assist) and not 8G1 (with Light Assist) I paused on buying it as the seller could send out an AC without the camera and then potentially be stuck with it

Good morning. I drive a left-hand drive car, behind the panel when unlocking the hood there are 2 plugs, one of which is where the CAN signals are connected. It is much more comfortable to work there than with the gateway.

Ive just found another possible mirror, this for an Octavia

lots of them on ebay relatively cheap. Would this mirror be ok ?
Would need to paint the rim black though, they mostly come with that horrible grey rim.

is understandable if you always enter the article number with SMA, which is the color code of the mirror. 9b9 is black

I wasn’t specifically seeking mirrors with SMA code, I simply searched for Octavia mirrors with camera on ebay and there is lots with code 57A857511SMA (none with 9b9 apart from a damaged one from Austria)

Is 57A857511 mirror same as 3g0857511xx mirrors ? Eg MQB compatible.

Im happy to paint the bezel black as there is lots of SMA versions available cheap.

Also i would if i could just remove the bezel from my existing mirror and swap over…. Or even better, somehow take the camera out and put into my existing mirror (I’ve got 2019 R ST)

When you say upgrade the assistant camera, do you mean the windscreen camera ?
Its like a £1200 retrofit here in the UK that’s just too much money.
