Just wanted to ask about reserve fuel, is it normal for reserve light to come on when there 25miles left? When trip comp states 0miles left for fuel, is the tank empty or if not how much is left?:(
Been on my mind cant seem to find anything on the search:whistle:

normally the light will come on with about 50 miles left (although it will have more then this in the tank)

Yeah mine fluctuates quite a bit. I'll drive 90 miles and it wont move then next time i start it im a quarter of a tank down.
The light comes on with about 30 or so miles for me.
The question is though, when the centre console trip says 0miles, how much reserve is left, cos I know it's not "empty".

My trip computer told me I had 0 miles left, then after a few mins, jumped up to 10miles left.. Not the most accurate, but I never let it get below a quarter now anyway.

i did this test, it said 0 on thr trip and i think i managed about5 ish miles before it died on me. but it was a solid 0, my trip tends to flick between 0-5 for about 10 miles before that

It depends how you drive. If you drive consistently keeping the miles per gallon on the computer the same, then it will pretty accurate. But if you drive really quickly, then slow down when you see you have little fuel, it will pop back up again telling you that you have more fuel magically!

It calculates how many more miles you can go with your current fuel load/mpg you're doing. So not really accurate if you drive inconsistantly..!

so ppl would say i have 10miles left once its on 0miles on the trip. normally fill up straight away once it reads 0.

Had mine on a solid 0 shown on the trip computer and still managed by 20mile round trip to work, i did fill up on the journey home but i think there is loads still left when the initial light comes on. That 20 trip i did was with the needle on the last red mark, i did drive like a nun though, getting aomost 33mpg round town!:D

I've ran both cars down so theres abosolutely no movement in the fuel guage and neither have cut out. 430 miles out of a tank in a MK3 1.4 Chill and 383 miles out of a MK2 GTi.

The computers arent very good at keeping up with varied styles of driving, if you hammer it for the first half and then ease off they are way out. If your driving styles pretty constant then they are nearer the mark.

my clock seems to tell me ive got 20miles left then drop to 15miles then back to 20miles and want change again so i dnt dare push it to find out :(

Same here, if i drive softly, the computer goes up. also keep on on needle just before it touches the last line.
