Replacing Hazard switch?!

Hi All,

New here and loving the site. I have started to have weird probs with my indicators. They work for a couple of secs then go out! I checked fuses etc and none blown. I then tried the hazards and they are not working!

I have read about other Seats where the relay or connection is bad. Anyone had this or knows how to get the switch out to check/replace it!?

Cheers

Simmo

Yup i've got the same prob on mine and was suppose to have had it done under warranty back in Feb, but i forgot. Or more to the point I didn't want Snows to touch the car

There was a recall in the US for the relay built inside the hazard switch. Just replace it. It's £35 for the Seat version, or £25 for the Golf version (which is exactly the same part, with a different trim panel).

Start from the right, remove the blanking plates and them you can get to the catch that holds the hazard module in place.

SEAT part number: 1M0 941 509B
VW part number: 1J0 953 235J

not quite that straightforward
full part number is 1M0 941 509 B NNF
earlier part number could be 1M0 941 509 56J
these are slightly different sizes, possibly the SEAT version of the Golf part

if you have towbar and/or sat nav there are other choices to!! Best bet is to get the old part out, the part number will be on there (without the NNF or 56J addition though)

dont know what is added on to end of VW part number, 56J, NNF or anything else

All, strangely my hazards are working again! The indicators still only work once then go off!?! Could this be a relay I would have thought that if the relay was duff it just wouldnt work at all?!

The 56J part is the one that caused the recall in the US. The relay was undersized. The modified version is what you want - in fact it's the only one you can buy from SEAT- and it's the one with the "B" on the end.

The Golf part is the same one. And it's a tenner cheaper for no reason. I'm assuming that you don't have the factory towbar kit (since almost no-one has).

Your relay is definitely dying - it's gone sticky. Replace it soon or you will loose all your indicators.
