Repainting my calipers

I noticed that the paint on my Cupra’s brake callipers is flaking off and so would like to re-paint them, as I don’t have the funds at the moment to go for the Brembo upgrade.

I’ve never done it before and I’m sure its pretty easy but, what processes would I need to go through to make them look good.

I take it would need to thoroughly strip the old paint off first, clean it down and re-paint.

What’s the best way to remove the old paint without having to remove the calliper? Also what type of paint is best to use?

As my Cupra is black I was thinking about either painting them red again or I might go for green.

Anyone done this?

brush off the old flakey paint with wire brush.

spray it all down with clutch and break cleaner to get off the oil and dust.

re-paint using halfords caliper paint £10 in various colours.

make sure you get the right paint thinner as whitespirit wont work.

its a good chance to clean your alloys properly too.

plus you will need to leave it overnight to harden a little before you drive it again.

make sure you slap a good load on the first time as you cant put another coat on for ages once its set.
