Removing Standard Hoses and Installing Samcos - NIGHTMARE

Had the bonnet up today means i couldnt really go anywhere cause of the weather and thought i'd have a crack at putting my new Samco hose set on. Went out and bought new Hose clamps for the job.

Got down to it and realised that i aint gonna be able to do this.

How the hell are you supposed to be able to get the lower Intercooler hose or any of them for that matter with those awkward clips that are on there?

You have to squeeze them together to release the clip. Its impossible to get your hand down there and underneath to get at it.

Is there some sort of tool i can get hold of to do the job?

Felt a bit of **** then. :(

hi mate, the ones at the sides, turn your wheels and remove the wheel arch liner, or remove the wheel on the passenger side, easy access.

The little 4cm long hose, i didnt attempt to fit, its unlikely thats going to baloon like the other hoses do, one day ill do mine, but couldnt be bothered :)

The OE clips are a pain, but you need to use the right pliars/mole grips., if its any help i got a mate to squeeze them and i cable tied it so it didnt spring back tight again ;)

Dont worry, i thought it was a 10 min job, but took me all afternoon. Getting the samco's on the IC piping is a bit of a pain also, i use p-80 rubber lubricant, this acts as a grease for just enough time to get the hoses on, before it dries up, thus not leaving them slippery like washing up liquid etc.

Hope this is of some help.

No problem, and be prepared for some cuts ;)

P.s don't over tighten your new hose clips, you risk cutting into the samco's and stripping the thread on them ;)

unless ya brother uses em and royally screws em up they work a treat :)

there is a std plier version but as usual having access is the main issue

if you can get to it and have a decent grip i find water pump pliers a good back up as long as they are good uns

You know you have been mechanicing if you're cut to shreds.

grazed knuckles just aren't proof enough these days.
