Do you need to wind the window down slightly to get access to the clips? Normally screw clamped together

yea I've done that, found the clamp thing but can't figure out how to get it off.

looks like there is a small plastic bung thats securing the window to the slider.

The slider looks like this, only this is from a focus. The bung sits in the circular hole in the pic below and looks like it goes through the window glass?

Hi, just wondered if you had managed to find out how to do this yet. I have the exact same problem in that I think the door lock needs either lubricating or replacing but cannot get to the lock. Have managed to remove the outer door card (plastic one) but the inner metal door card is proving difficult.

Even though I have removed all the 10mm bolts from the metal door panel and loosened it from the seal all the way round it still does not want to detach from the door. It appears to be stuck in the top right where you would expect the door lock mechanism to be. Could this be because the window glass needs to be removed first?

All I need is to get this final piece of the inner door panel detached to get access to the lock.

Thanks in advance.

According to the workshop manual the basic procedure is:
Remove inner door trim panel.
Remove exterior door handle and multi splined bolts securing door lock to rear edge of door.
Remove grommets from carrier and lower window until plastic roll pins can be seen through holes. Screw long M5 bolt into inner roll pin to pull it out. Screw M8 bolt into outer roll pin. Pull pins out with pliers.
Lift window glass to top and secure with strong adhesive tape.
Undo carrier bolts and carefully withdraw carrier, disconnecting wiring plugs and releasing wiring harness as you go.
The door lock is attached to the carrier and should come out with it. It might need a bit of wiggling to get it free, though.

This a simplified version and I haven't tried it myself, as I have a three door, so cannot accept any responsibility if you get into a muddle. ;)

I would advise purchasing a Haynes manual. It is money well spent.

Can anyone answer this I have the same problem - manual window winders - so don't have the bolts you can see in other guides to disconnect the window mechanism
