Remote locking windows +VAG com

OK I cant find the original thread where there was code for adding the above feature if you didnt already have it.
So I went to my Seat dealer you mentioned to me before that he could change anything on the through the VAG Com computer. SO I was in for somthing else and said by the way can you add this code so my windows close using the remote, and he said OK and I left. Few hours later I get a phone call saying it takes an 'hour of computer time' to update the VAG and that would cost £57.

So I said no thanks. But does that sound right. I thought they could have just done it for free Anyone else had code changed and been charged?

Also how easy is it to do myself? Do I just need a laptop cable and software? How much do the cable and software cost?

Hi mate, im not sure what feature this specifically is? are you sure it can be done to your ECU, is it model year 07? I dont think you can do this with my 06 car.

Regarding VAG-COM you need a CAN-BUS cable. The cheapest ross-tech one is $249 plus taxes. I got one a while ago.
The software license is embeeded in the cable, and the software is free to download.

Cheers Dan, $249 is a bit much for a cable, it must be really special. I take it you mean it has a dongle of some sorts in it. When you are finished with yours you can just pop it in the post to me

There was a post a while back where somebody posted the corrective code to enable remote window looking on some of the older cars, and said it worked on his. But i don't have the time to find just now.

Have you looked at the similar threads below? Not done it myself but it seems the easiest way to do it is to buy one of those cartridge-wotsit-thingies that they talk about. plug it in for a few seconds and it's done.

If I ever opened my windows I'd probably get one of those.
