Remote fob not proggraming

Hi People,

Afraid i've done something pretty stupid to my new car already ! I have a 2.0 cupra 2 1998 - S reg. With Radio (i think) central locking.

My remote central locking was really reluctant to work, would often take 20 presses to get any action on it - locking and unlocking.

I'd changed the battery, so eliminated that.

So thought i'd try the synchronisation thing in the Seat hand book:

1)Put key in igntition and turn until lights come on for a couple of seconds
2)Remove key and press and hold lock, then press unlock 3 times
3) LED should now blink 5 times

I did this, and the LED blinked 5 times, but now the remote locking doesn't work at all.

Anyone have any ideas? I have to use the key in the door now

1 ignition on to red lights on dash
2 turn off immediately and pull key out
3 HOLD 1 of the buttons down (dont matter which)
4 PRESS the other 3 times ( with a SLIGHT pause) 1 . 2 . 3
5 watch led on key (should flash) and doors usually try lock/unlock
6 turn ignition key back on to red lights and wait 5 sec
7 key out again and test operation

you may be leaving it too long on lines 1/2

if you are still having trouble id check the button mounts on the circuit board inside as they may be broken with all the pressing

if you have access to another remote from any other ibiza try coding that to test it - can always code it back to the original car after

Tried but still no luck

LED is flashing but I think the car doesent want to program/ engage programming mode.

But it DID use to work before (just not very well)

Any more ideas ???

Yeap, my cordy has done this and so has my white 1.4. I squirted wd40 on the battery contacts and the contacts for the buttons, cleaned them up and now it works again.
