lightened flywheel isnt the answer if a quite steady tickover is wanted. my cupra if driven hardish the lighter flywheel causes the shafts in the gear box to rattle SLIGHTLY :(

Mates Golf GTI sounded very lumpy on idle, bit like a Stukka, but when it got to 3500rpm WOW!

Can't believe there is another 2.0 8V owner at last! I have been looking into re-mapping mine for some time custom code charge around the 500 mark for a 10bhp increase which considering what the tdi's get isn't worth it at all. I have got a K&N filter in mine and hasn't made a huge difference. Advice from many told me to stay away from induction kit. I agree full exhaust system would help but not sure about cams! Your car should be the same as mine so 115bhp.

Good luck with the modding I am working a few exterior mods first and then see what it happens. If you find any good deals let me know!

How much was your sachs clutch bud?

Mine was £406 from JBS, I went in on that group buy they did for members on here, think they usually retail for about £500ish? Still not got it fitted, need to pull my finger out and get it sorted! Will prob be ordering a full milltek next week so will try and do them at the same time!

well going back to the days that I owned a mini cooper I had a k+n filter, straight through single box 2 inch zorst, high lift scatter cam, twin 1.5 inch su charbs, lightened and balanced flywheel and that was RR,d at 98 bhp

not bad for a 75 bhp 1275cc engine, tick over was quite lumpy but it rev'd to 8k no probs

I would say that the cam and the flywheel made by far the most difference

sadly it needed a stronger gearbox but hey it was good fun to drive
