Hi all had an interesting time last night, had the opportunity to go up against a Revo'd Cupra PD160 in my APR remapped 1.8T.

To say there was nowt in it is an understatement kneck and kneck upto 120mph (private roads of course...) tried this twice rsult the same, very impressed by the derv.

cool so evidence that they are around the same remapped as well then!

the tdi will pull away off the mark better with more torque at low revs but when 20vt gets going its rapid up to 40 so i think thats where they would be the same from all the way to 120mph

20vt pulls away quicker slightly on start up, and top end, my next car will be a derv.

me and redcupratdi are equal, me having a mk3 and k03s, 220bhpish, and he having 200+ remap, we are pretty much equal, i slightly pull if i catch him wrong ;)

errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr this is not wot we saw at the POD me vs REDCUPRATDI?

i beat him pulling away and over the entire 1/4mile. this to me shows the 20vt after a remap is quicker than the PD160 after a remap? surley??? we have longer gears!

I was gonn say that, surely the 20VT pulls an extra 2K nearly, mind you the K03 dies at 5.5K, so therefore you may be changing around the same point...

In France all friday we do run.
I have tested with a ibiza cupra pd 160 remap, big remap.

The result is :

- in second gear, i won easy
- in three, we are equal but when i pass the forthy gear, i begin to leave and we wasn't be able to continue because there was lot of people.

My remap ils a good remap.
Without remap => 28 ° celcus => 3000 km => 171 hp and 231 nm
with remap => 28°Celcus => 3000 km => 200hp and 347nm

If I put a miltek catback and if i put 1.4 bars or 1.5 bars, you can say bye bye to pd 160.

but remember, the derv will still be getting better mpg, and cheaper tax!!!

What 1/4mile time should a remapped 1.8T run, no other mods??

remapped 1.8Ts in either mk3 or mk4 format range from early 14s to late 14s depending on the map/weight of driver/drivers technique

tbh most of the other mods dont make much difference

i know im hoping for atleast 14.5 at inters next weekend but the heat will be my worst enemy

iv done a number of 0-100s of late using a few different methods of timing and all end up around 14 odd seconds now with my new clutch

They are the same service intervals, aka 10,000 miles or a year etc.

mine just a remap and funny clutch
yours with slicks and a few extra mods :D pulled away well at start but not pulling over entire 1/4 ;)

but a mk4 cupra tdi against the mk4 cupra 1.8T the petrol 1.8T would win over the 1/4mile. along with a remaped mk3 cupra 1.8T should beat a mk4 cupra tdi remapped over the 1/4mile.

but on the move i'll keep with a RMed 1.8T mk4 cupra. RMed 1.8T mk3 cupra and LCR up to silly speeds.

a mk3 1.8T 160 remapped verus a remapped cupra 160pd be pretty even. both with round 200bhp

Think off the line the 1.8t would nick it, also if i let up the gas for a tiny bit the Mk3 will be gone,
but come to a roundabout braking in accelarating out a mk4 cupra would out brake the mk3 cupra.
Just from experenice with a few plays with 3 different modded mk3 cupras and the LCR comment was also from a play with a friend.

THe mk3 cupra is a Real rocket and it great fun, the Cupra tdi and 1.8T are also very quick.

which would beat which isn't too important, they all quick, all remapped are about the same, driver error (a fluffed gear change)would make a difference.

I asked about the price as well and was told that it was no different to the 20vt! :)

And on another note, not all of us have to change our oil at every 5k either! :p
