it's all readlly down to how much abuse the clutch has already had. If it had been given lots of wheelspins, riding, & other abuse then it will probably need some attention. What map are you thinking of going for as the more agressive maps tend to put more stress on the clutch due to the increased torque.

Wayne, I am reading your mods in your signature and I might make a suggestion. You have a custom exhaust, but is that cat-back or turbo back? If cat-back, it may be worth waiting until you can stick a downpipe and decat/sport-cat on and go right to stage 2. In the long run, this will save you £100 - £200.

Secondly I would look at removing your BMC CDA filter for an open cone, the BMC restricts the LCR quite alot.

But as you say james, it's all down to how much abuse it's taken in the past. I'd say that my map was aggressive but I don't drive the car hard or ride the clutch and so far all seems well (touch wood). For reference, I have 299lb/ft from the front wheels.

well i suppose it's all done to the person that has been driving it then, only they will know if the clutch has had abuse and if it will take a remap,

Mine already came with PH1 CC, no probs with the clutch whatsoever, but it's quite a smooth and linear map..... Currently saving a few pennies and going to go straight to hybrid turbo will soon know if the clutch needs doing then :p

Agreed about the BMC CDA, they are mean't to be quite restrictive in comparrison to an open cone filter with ducting or something similar. Might be worth doing some logging....

think of it this way

u get a map cos u want the luxury of putting your foot down to feel the extra power

yes u can calm down on the driving and chill out
but whats the point?

im not saying you should always put your foot, but why spend 400+ quid when u simply cant do what you WANT it to do.

get an upgraded clutch and use ur map to the full potential

ive recently got a revo map, and yes the clutch is slipping more than its used to

But gonna have to save up quickly and just get the clutch changed

ive made me mind up not doing it going to spend the money at jakes and get sum stuff painted on me car cheaper than a remap and a clutch.
