Actually there's a reasonable chance of that, are you doing the group parking thing again?

It's RWD and non turbo so very different - after being in a diesel for 4 years, it's nice to have the full range of revs to use even if that means changing gear a lot more if you want to keep a good pace up.
Unlike the Tdi I don't feel compelled to wring its neck all the time, it's a really nice car to just drive because of how nice it is to just drive.

Cheers Flapper, I can see the attraction you have with the Mk2 with it being NA and not dulled to hell with electronic aids - mine has ABS just and no traction control It really is back to basics and 'no frills' driving. It does have a LSD as standard but that's about it.

One of my ex-work colleagues has a grey one on a Y plate, and when you sit in it the cabin almost feels bespoke built for you; it fits like a glove. Everything around you is essential and easily within reach, and even though I'm not slight I didn't feel too big for the car.
How does it feel in the wet? Mate has spun his twice, but he has F-A throttle finesse!
As for the engine..... What a sound.

The early cars ( pre 04) were a lot less assisted in terms of suspension geometry and damper rates - they feel much harder on the road and as such can be a bit 'snappy' if you're not careful. I like the ride mine has, it's a bit softer, less inclined to bite you although if you drive it like an idiot in anything but bone dry conditions you'd best have your brain switched on because it will kick the tail out.
The cabin layout as you say is excellent, the seat moves forwards and back and the backrest moves - that's it and that seems to be enough to get anyone of any size comfortable. Seats are excellent, pedal layout is straight, wheel is dead centre and the gearstick falls nicely into place. All the heater controls on the left and all the audio controls on the right - nice big rev counter in the middle etc etc blah blah. Only criticism is the lack of glovebox, there's two storage bins in the rear centre console which are pretty big but only one can be opened if the roof is down
Only had 2 minor back end out moments so far, both were catchable and all I did was steer into it whilst holding the throttle and it snapped back perfectly into line - admittedly this was at <30mph .... i'd not care to try that at any higher speed.
Spent most of the weekend with the entire interior out to run RCA cables and suchlike, that's all done so now the only thing left to do is fit the amps and finish off the sub box. Problem with it is that it's SO compact, running anything over and above manufacturers stuff is a time consuming process. Really not looking forward to getting cables through the to the doors - wire coathanger covered with insulating tape is going to be the only way to do it.

Where you hanging out these days Pat (forum wise). Often see stuff you've reviewed on iTunes when I'm looking through Hed Kandi / Dance!
s2ki.com is where i've spent a bit of time, on britshmods every so often and a fair bit on facebook although being honest my forum time has reduced drastically of late. I think that's partly because there is so little I want / need to do to the car that requires forum help and also because i've been busy enjoying the sun and driving at weekends
That iTunes thing does it upload the rating you give tracks locally? I tend to give things 5 star ratings to make it easy to get the stuff I like onto the iPhone to play in the car
