Rear Whipers having a life on its own.

Hi, I have a question, my rearview wiper does the strangest things sometimes it works normally and on other times it works on its own. From suddenly wiping till not wiping at all. Usually it starts to wipe when the front wipers work, but even those sometimes are eratic (not propperly using the interval). Usually they stop after a while and atleast it doesn't wipe anymore, but I would love to know if it is a common problem and if there is an easy fix.

If not, what to tell the guy that sold it to me to look for and replace.

*Update:Sorry I noticed I spelled Wiper wrong after waking up this morning hehe (was a bit tired last night so didn't notice it ;). Please forgive me my spelling my daily spelling sins ;).

although ive not had a problem like this on my ibiza, threw past experience have you checked the relay and if thats ok then try the wiper stalk behind the steering wheel, if you got an airbag and you dont know what you are doing then take the car back to who ever you got it off and see what they think.

Thanks for the help, I'll check the relays first and see if I can find a fault.

Shot down there  I have the same problem with my rear wiper... It gets to the stage where I just turn the music up louder if it starts doing my head in. De-Wipering is on my to do list.

Don't forget it's 15 posts + 15 days mind :) sorry

Spoilsport ;), but yeah I do think Ill just cut the wire and place a switch I can salvage from a Polo or Ibiza in the dash. That way if it is really misbehaving I can just cut the power completly. But maybe they can fix it, since they have it on a contract that it should work :).
