Rear tail light problem

I got the error message on my dashboard to check my rear tail light so I replaced it with a new bulb from halfords, however the error is still there? I replaced the bulb again thinking it could have been a faulty bulb but the error is still there.

This could be unrelated but since I’ve owned the car since 2019 I’ve had to replace this bulb atleast 3 or 4 times due to the error coming up but the error normally goes after the bulb is replaced.

Can anyone help with what the problem is? My car is a 2014 Seat Leon 1.6 tdi

Check the connections for any water ingress/ green corrosion. Contact cleaner or IPA (think you call it rubbing alcohol in the usa) will clean it up.

Bulb holder, cabling, and as mty says look for water. Hot bulb holders lose Thier springyness and the bulbs can wobble if the fit becomes poor.
Wd40 is fine on most electricals, I think they have a contact cleaner with water displacer.
When distributors were a thing I think we all used a lot of it.

I’ve recently encountered this problem again. The error disappeared for ages and then returned earlier this year with multiple different garages having a look to find the problem but they can’t see a problem. The bulb works but the dash still shows the message to check rear tail light.
Anyone else experienced this or know what i can do next?

I have heard of this many times and usually down to a poor connection due to a dirty contact causing a high resistance and allowing the bulb to light but bringing up a error.
The other thing is have you fitted the correct wattage bulb as this will bring up a error
