Does anyone know what SEAT dealers do to fix this problem on LCRs? - do they replace parts or?

I've tried a search but can't find a definitive solution.

The rears on my car rattle/creak when they are dry (rather than when wet - which seems to be everyone else's prob)

Basically I want to book the car in say its "most likely this" and give them a pointer. Any part numbers or info would be a help.

Thanks

Matt

I had rear shocks and top mounts replaced under warranty at approx 18k miles. Suspect only the tope mounts were the issue.

Now on 62K and the replacements are fine.

Nearside rear top mount failed on my Cupra. Dealer dismissed the idea as 'impossible' when I tried to have them replaced under warranty.

So I did it myself. Bought 2 x rear top mounts from these guys. 30mins to change both and the rattle disappeared.

Think this is a common problem! Make sure it's not your rear seats rattling, put them down to see if it stops, if it does then put some tape around the loop on the back of the seats that lock into the thingys :)

I've took the whole back of the car out and the rattle got worse! I only realised it was something to do with the suspension when I hosed the wheelarches with water and it stopped. I even had the rear door skin off at one point! :hide:

I may be having to do this one myself to very soon. Bangs like a door in the wind at the moment!

Which mount did you use in the end, I assume the sports one for the Cupra is correct?

my car is going in next week - thought i would get all my problems looked at at once:

coolant sensor - AGAIN
Rear passenger side suspension creak/rattle
Boot lock - Jammed AGAIN

Hopefully i will get some resolution - at least if its reported while in warranty and it happens again then outside of warranty i have a good case to argue :)

Resurrecting an old-ish thread...

I've concluded my nearside rear suspension top mount has failed again after replacing the original one 18mths ago. It's the crashing sound when driving over potholes & drain covers that gives it away.

Which mount did you use in the end, I assume the sports one for the Cupra is correct?

I dug out an old invoice, and the part no. required from these people is,

'Rear Top Mount > (1JB,1JD,1JE,UA2) > 10891 @ £8.69ea.'

I've ordered a pair today.

just to be clear its the top mount for the shocks not wishbones...?

also i presume its a case of replacing said part from underneath the car. ie not lucky enough to be part accessible from inside the boot?

oh and why not the sports top mount for the extra 30p...? is that cupra? LCR?

Yes, it's the top mount for the shocks. Dead easy to change IIRC, just work within the wheelarch itself. From memory, remove wheel, then the 3 bolts securing the shock. Swap over the top mount and reinstall. No more than 10-15mins a side.

i've had two LCR's and they both creak at the rear [old one was creaking at front too] only however going over bumps and speed bumps - i drive slowly over them mind so i don't think I'VE damaged anything, my first LCR had done 28k when i got rid and just had it's service and it needed the cv boots replacing, as they had cracked, never did though as i knew i was getting rid soon, but the new one has done 5k and it seems to be worse after rain, is this normal or am i being a bit paranoid???

thanks

Digging out an old thread...

Can anyone with ETKA give me the original OEM part number for these rear suspension top mounts on an '03 plate Cupra?

I can not locate the part number under the layers of winter crud on mine!

I booked the car into the dealer in the end for the noise prob - in early December. Im not sure what they did, but they greased the struts etc whilst I waited and the noise went - it hasn't come back since. They did the front too. :)

I'm surprised at that, the part no. is stamped in a place that should be clean, i.e. inside the mount.

Anyhoo, it's 1J0 513 353 B.

Thanks for the reply! :D

You would be surprised just how much muck there really is, been to some very muddy construction sites over the past few weeks, add the thick crust of road salt and you really can not see much at all! :(

Just bringing up this thread again, I have the top mounts ready to fit and will be attempting it at the weekend, I got them from Euro Car Parts for £8 each

I have another rattle that sounds like its coming from the middle of the car, it sounds like two bottles clanking together underneath the car, it happens when you take your lift off the throttle quickly and it clinks if you understand what I mean, when it rocks forward?!!?!

Rear suspension also creaks, could this be down to wishbone bushes etc?

Any help gratefully appreciated atm!
