so when i bought my 1999 seat leon its was problem free but now its problem after problem, newest problem is my OSR door is shut and will not open from the inside or the outside(i had the window regulator unplugged for afew days while i got a new one as it was already off and i was manually unlocking and locking the car by the metal rod?) but when i was fitting my new window regulator the OSR door would not lock at all and then was also forced to manually lock it. The door card and the regualtor panel is currently off as ive tried moving the mechanism about but cant really see/reach it with anything, ive tried banging the door lock area while pulling the outside door handle with no luck, im honestly at the point of taking a hammer to it.. and the door lock. it might be worth noting that i have also tried changing the batteries in my keyfob and it is very (extremely) intermittent unlocking and locking. i did get it working well at one point but its just got terrible!

Hi mate, unfortunately once the thing is completely broken, the only way to open it is by force as far as i know. Hammer is one method, or you could try and cut the plastic casing open with a dremel or similar. If you have the replacement lock ready to go in, then studying that may give you a clue as to the best method of attack. 3rd party replacememts are availible (and work well) on ebay for around the £20 mark. New from SEAT i think they are around £150

They are indeed. About 140 something plus the vat.
Just had drivers door lock replaced with be part.
You do need to catch them before they grind to a total halt as mty has said.

I had this happen about 6 months ago. Take the door card off and then hammer + chisel the plastic lock into pieces, difficult but achievable. Fortunately it unlocked once there was about 50% of it left. The local vw specialist recommended angle grinding the mechanism out from the outside... i decided not to take my car there anymore.

so i decided to take a hammer to it, so being annoyed with lack of bread and toilet roll it literally took me 5mins and i mean seriously 5mins (it was in pieces!) to get the door open without damaging the door at all so new lock to come soon :) thanks guys
