Rear camera not working

Hello

I have recently bought a Seat Leon ST from 2021.
After a few months the rear camera started giving a black screen. It works about 5% of the time. The rest just the black screen.
Went to my dealer and they replaced all the wiring of the camera because they said it was sometimes connecting but other times not. They tested it and said it worked 99% of the time and the rest would resolve with a software update.

Took the car home but still not working. Seems to be working even less now than before. Went back today and was told they now believe the camera itself might be broken. They had a story about when the temperature is colder ot works when its warmer it doesn't work. When the guy at the dealership drove my car it worked for a few minutes. Super weird because with us it doesn't work at all. (we have tested with removing all phone connections)
They want to replace the whole camera which is on back order and could take 2 months. Estimated cost about 450 euro (I am from the Netherlands).

They said this was an issue they heard about with this camera. But I can't find anything related to this online. Only cameras falling out.

So just asking here: have you heard of this problem and does anyone have a solution or know of it really needs to be replaced.
The car had 2 years warranty and is now in 2 years extended warranty but they said they don't think this falls under it.

I am facing the same problem and need to visit the dealer to have it looked at. I have the car about 2 months and it worked in the begin and during the testdrive of course but since a few weeks it stopped working and I've only seen it on one more time during heavy rainfall. Any idea how the dealer had a working camera at all?

And just like that it worked this afternoon, so frustrating. Now I can't show the problem to the dealer..

We had the exact same thing today. Worked the whole day even though it hadn't been working for weeks. Here the weather was very warm today. Maybe same in the UK?

I've had my 2021 ehybrid st from new and I'm currently waiting for my third replacement camera to come into stock. I know this is a different issue but two times now the lens has fallen off. Both times I stuck it back on but the view is never good afterwards. Plus each time water gets into the body and eventually shorts it out completely.
Must be a known fault on these cars as the delear told me there were five different versions implemented for the ST. For a car that's only been around for four years that seems strange.
I wonder if the lens bonding is failing on yours and moisture is getting into the electronics.
When the lenses were attached it worked 90% of the time. The latest software update finally made it available 100% of the time.

Never had an issue with VW group cars before.

Yesterday as I stepped into the car and press the button to start the car the infotainment seemed to crash and since then the camera isn't working anymore. Hard reset of the system by holding the power button doesn't solve it..
