:D Cool, he will be on my side with this one.

Where's Ad Lav at? He'll really kick the debate off

Cheeky Buggar!

Depends what driving you do and how deep your pockets are???

Diesel = Punchy, short but fun rev range

Petrol = Noise and long fun rev range

If you are going to tune it:

Rashcupra/Petrol = 350 bhp + 340 lb/ft IHI Turbo + F1 Noise :D

MikeyH/Diesel = 230 bhp + 350 lb/ft Garrett Hybrid Turbo + Smoke :D

They drive totally differently, if it were me and I had £15k to spend (£10k on car and £5k on mods) i'd go petrol, rashcupra's is seriously nuts and f**cking quick!! Think DB9/Porsche! [B)]

Saying that though I love my car to bits, i'd put an R32 engine in it if I was crazy enough...

i wouldn't be going to the lengths that rash has gone, well just be re-map few other little things possible bigger turbo, does either of the pd160 and 180 petrol have a front mounted intercooler as standard, i know the diesel has the bigger turbo? is that right?

They both have FMIC and bigger turbo's than the FR siblings...

PD160 remap will give 200 bhp and 300 lb/ft

1.8T 180 remap will give 220 bhp and 250 lb/ft

The petrol will benefit from an exhaust and filter (induction) better than what a diesel will too.
