Rattling on acceleration

I've noticed that when my car (Mk 4 20VT) is cold and when on boost about 2000rpm it starts to rattle/ flutter, as though there is something wrong with the turbo, but when its warmed up the noise dissapears. It also sometimes happens when the car hasn't been on boost for a while i.e. just cruising under 2000 revs. There is no noticable loss of power or any engine warning lights coming on.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Cheers.

had this with mine thought it was dump valve but then the noise got louder and louder and eventually sounded like exahust wasnt there thats why mine is in at the mo think the down pipe came losse from turbo could be that mine only started at that sort of rev range in about second and bit in third. id get it looked at at dealers soon as as ive been waiting a week fro a new gasket and 3 bolts!!!!!!!!!!

 I think I have read on here that sometimes the bolts that hold the turbo on can vibrate loose

so in your case it could be loose but is ok when hot and expanded

I had a hybrid turbo go bang on me because 2 of the bolts snapped, and 1 came loose.
It will allow the turbo to be sat miss-aligned and the gasses to escape, also it will starve the turbo of oil. And you dont want that to happen.

might work but a pain to get to im thinking another way is let it cool down before swithcing engine off so they dont heat up and cool down to fast
