Hi guys and girls,

My car has developed a rattling noise which sounds abit like shaking your car keys which I think its coming from the boot latch, is it possible to adjust it or will it need replacing?

The noise cant be produced by rocking the boot whilst its open only whilst its shut so im guessing it is the latch unless anyone has any other ideas?

It's probably the threaded bar that connects the handle with the lock. You'll have to remove the trim and tighten it up.

Defected!
I had an annoying rattle from my boot for ages. What I did was remove all of the plastic trim from inside the boot lid to check the latch, wiper mechanism and anything else that might have dropped down, worked loose etc. After an hour of scratched arms and bleeding knuckles I could'nt find a sodding thing wrong so I put it all back together making sure all of the clips were properly in place and gave it up as a bad job for another day. I did'nt really notice for a couple of days that the rattle had almost completely gone so I can only assume that it was the trim although the rattle was metalic sounding and not what you'd expect. Don't forget we have Spanish interiors and they're always going to squeak and rattle a little bit.
