Rattle on tdi cupra. (strut brace)

ok first off thanks to fez for coming and fitting my strut brace after i bought it off him.. does inprove the handling especially on round abouts

after he left i did the usual go for a drive and the car started to rattle. in my consentration i then stalled it and i thought my gear box had dropped out due to the ALMIGHTY thud.

after driving for a few days as seat was to busy to have a look. i noticed its only did it between 1200 rpm and 1600 rpm and if i turn left if made it worse and right stopped doing it..

popped the bonnet (didnt think to check the strut brace before) and low and behold there be my problem... the air box bangs on the underside of the strut brace.. WTF am i ment to do about that. any one else had this problem??

p.s put my car on a rolling road last wednesday... was 46 degrees in the shop and it pulled 158.5 bhp on a the brake or break test and a 170 something on the other kind lol.. he said its will be quicker in normal heat so wat am i looking at around 165?

I've had a rattling problem, but not with the air box hitting the strut brace, but my forge DV. Yours is a desiel so you won't have that problem.

hmm maybe my car is duff lol...

i noticed the top of the air filter box has the raised bits on it i reckon if i sand these down i think it will stop rattling but i aint to sure how much is the replacement one

Had the same problem with my strut brace. It was knocking against the Ram Air filter everytime i accelerated hard or turned. Solved it by putting some tape around the brace where it knocks against the filter and got rid of the engine cover. Seems to have worked ok at the moment

Get some pipe lagging and tape it around the struct brace where the airbox is and voila no more rattling.

yeah dead common problem, i think ian (driveforward) was the first to find on his mk4 sport 130, modified with a bit of padding i think.

Mine never had any rattling when it was fitted?

As the others have said I guess a bit of tape will do the trick

I think ive got exactly the same mate! Ive been trying to find the buzzing rattle for ages in my passender footwell/dashboard etc. but i think may have just hot the nail on the head - exactly the same RPM's and similar with the steering thing.

I dont know if my green panel filter's air seal is making the airbox too high but ill try to have a look.
