GF's FR has a random clunk from front when doing slow speed manoeuvres.
Seems to be front passenger side. Usually when turning into a road or onto drive.

I've just replaced the drop link but still doing it.

Any ideas folks?

Cheers

I checked the usual.

Anti-roll bar bushes
Top mounts seem to be smooth running - left to right turning
Drop links are ok.

Thought it was the power steering pipes knocking on sub frame - still doing it after i moved them.

Did it again reversing off drive this morning.

Car needs to go to stealer for wheel bearing.

The only thing i noticed was a mark on roll bar and one on the steering arm. Find it hard to believe they can touch each other but who knows.

This is one that has been discussed many times if you have a search through many people have tried lots of things but never got the clunk to go.

Could be wrong, but doesn't the wheel bearing check include jacking the wheel up and placing your hands at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and see if you can get any movement when pushing at top/pulling at bottom (and vice versa)?

You could have a quick go yourself (if you haven't already)

the wheel bearing is rear and really humms at approx 30mph.

The knock, clunk, bang comes from front somewhere.

Sure it's not the lower arm rear bushes....? Just had mine replaced at 98k miles & before I had them changed, it clunked over small bumps, particularly when manoeuvring & with some lock applied to the wheels.
Since having them replaced it's not happened once.

keefy, after reading your thought i had a look. you might be right like. it's becoming more frequent now but if you compare the pictures the passenger side doesn't look the same and has a rolled edge around the peg it as if it's been moving about a bit. Only a tiny movement would make a nasty sound.

Does anyone know how the bushes are gitted over this peg?

drivers bush looks a far tighter fit around the peg thing on back of control arm.

well.....

due to get car back today.

Wheel bearing acknowleged and in progress.

Knock is a mystery but technician heard it on test drive. They need to ask SEAT for advice
Must have checked all the usual failures and ran out of ideas.

While car is in they're cheking all recalls have been applied. I really hope that doesn't include plugging car into there diagnostic and changing the ECU software just because they felt like it ! I will not be very chuffed. Car runs very well so i've asked them nicely in an email to only consider any safety mechanical items and leave the rest of it alone.

Should have it back at 2pm ish.

the latest......it seems that the brake carrier has been hitting off the disc causing the noise.

Why this is happening is still a mystery !

back to garage again......3rd time lucky ?

brake carrier holds brake calliper to hub.

i'm begining to think ours is related to the drive shaft. I'm wondering if there's a bit of float on the inner joint

am i right in thinking the shaft length needs to change during turning?
