Do our Alteas have a radio code? (2005 model)
Thinking about ecu reset and no trace of any code in bumpf from dealer.
Can ecu be reset by vag com?

No radio code, each unit is coded to the particular car/ecu. You can reset ecu by removing neg battery lead for half hour, turn on all electricals in car and off again to drain any charge being held and leave for while and reconnect. Make sure anti pince on windows works after, if not put each window down and hold butting for 3 seconds or so and same when raising, try wipers, fan controls and vent positions to learn the ecu of positions etc, takes 5 mins to do all. Steering warning light will come on (electro-mechanical system) but once you drive off it will go away, drive somewhere, around house or street using full lock, left and right to make sure it set right.

removing the battery for half an hour probably won't reset the ecu fuel trim base values. (i think anyway)

it did, but I also shorted the +ve and -ve cables to drain any residual charge.
Immediate improvment, tickover smoother, less hesitation on dsg pick up. and starting alot easier.
