Radio code required

Hi,

As the batt was disconnected, the radio is now locked.

SAFE appeared, now its on 2000.

I know I simply need to enter the 4 digit code followed by PYT, but I don't know what my radio code is.

My local garage said I have to take it to my main dealer - which is pretty far away.

Apparently they also charge £28+vat!

I've had the radio removed and written down all the numbers on it.

Is there a way of finding out what the code is other than taking a day off work to take it to the dealers to then spend £33 for a code.

HELP please...

My dealer looked it up on their computer, based on the registration. Was FOC too. Have you tried calling them?

Just called them - said I have to call original dealer that supplied the car from new - I don't know where it came form new.

They said the other way is to send a letter to Seat UK HQ with all my cars details and they'll get back to me - surely this would take ages?

Sorry guys the whole procedure has changed right across VAG We used to fax off serial number and vehicle details to SEAT and get a reply within an hour or two. Now radio codes are released online through the dealer's workshop diagnostic machine which means a dealer visit and probably half an hour labour charge.

From what ive heard - might be wrong but yes sometimes the dealer may have the code but also sometimes the dealer or whereever serviced may have reset the code and changed it - god knows why but my code didnt work in mine and my local dealer said to get it back to normal from safe they will need to scan it on a diagnostics machine and that you will always have to pay for. Stupid i know and i ended up repacing my stereo as it didnt like my cd's anyway.

tried that code finding thing, the one specifically for the Seat aura, but I can't get it to work.

Looks like I've got to put 8 sets of 2 digits in then it give me the 4 digit unlock code.

Thing is - I've no idea what numbers from the radio unit I'm meant to be putting in?
