ok was out this weekend. and since u all complain i drive like an old dear. i went racing about this weekend.

race one was a Volvo C70 D5. 90 year old driver over took me in a 30 zone doing about a tonne. got on the dual carrageway and rolled up to him as he was stuck in traffic... not much contest really... i eased by pulled in front job done.

race two was a golf VR6. wasnt to sure how i would fair... didnt give it 100% as we hit some traffic but he didnt seem to be pulling on me like id expect him to... was he not trying?

race three was a ren 5 gtt. straight through exhaust air filter manual boost controller upped the boost a little between 130 - 140 bhp. came off the round about and nailed it. changed at around 3500 - 4000 rpm was very surprised to see he was steal keeping up with me... when we got to destination he said how quick my diesel was etc etc he had a little more to give but not much.. is it normal for a cupra to be like this against an r5 gtt?

Renault 5T weight less than a bag of crisps and it had 20BHP less than you... Im surprised you stayed infront!

Get it remmaped for more sooty fun!

get it remapped as for the vr6 it will blow it away lol your cupra should keep up with a astra vxr to about 110 remapped it will go by it might go by near top end though if your silly enough to go that far .it will suprise you what you can go by

I had a blast with a VR6 on sat coming down the A12 through Martelsham Heath?? spp. in my LCR, and mullered it...was quite suprised how slow it was..

And knowing how fast SpanielsFR's derv is..(hope he doesnt read this as his head will get too big to get in his car) i know if you get a remap you would kill a VR6..

i have done this with a vxr astra before remapping. I have to try him again now that am revo'd lol. I dont think you have come to terms yet how quick your derv is lol highly recommend getting it remapped you won't believe how much fun factor it adds to the car

i had 02 beeza tdi 130 sport re-mapped etc
r/r came out with 175 bhp

vr6 wasted dog slow not a good comparison
standard old ( s reg) scooby turbo couldn't pass me on dual carriage way got to 115
mitzi evo 4 good race passing folk kept up with him between 35 to 70
civic type r from 40 to 120 kept up with it till about 95 before he slowly started pulling away
top speed on clock wrong side of 70 (doubled )

now have toledo 20vt ( family man now ) beeza would have killed this it needs mapping

The Ibiza Cupra Diesel is hardly slow admittedly! Certainly mid-range it'll give many other supposedly sporting motors a good paaaaaaaandin.

I have got consistently better 1/4 mile times than a supercharged golf VR6 = supposedly running 270 bhp, but judging by his terminals (100 mph) I'd say more like 230 ish.

However, it will NOT see of a standard scooby to 115 mph - despite what others may say, not if the scooby is being driven as was intended - I do get a little worked up with some of the more wild diesel performance claims. No matter how viciously remapped (not talking about hybrid turbo'd cars here) you r diesel is, it will still be poo over 90 mph.
