Need to get the rear wheel bearings done (2ltr 8v R-reg) and ive been to a few garages to get rough idea of prices and when they would be able to take my car. BUT i have have been asked whether the bearings are one piece or two piece. Unfortunately im not too sure  (my technical knowledge doesnt go that far) so if someone could maybe explain what the difference is and what my Ibiza is so i could perhaps be of more use to the garage?? All i know is that the rear bearings need to be pressed in and unfortunately i dont have the tools to do this (or the time at the mo)

Cheers

there's two bearings inside the disc that need knocking out & replacing

you may as well do the discs as you're there too

The problem has arisen from the fact that i needed a bearing done last November and the guy who was doing it said at the same time that the discs and pads were needing done soon and that i should do them. So i though ok since i had not done them since i got the car (2and half years).
However the guy has either put Sh1t bearings in or not done it correct and now both sides are needing done (advisorys in my MOT) or maybe i have a more serious problem but i doubt it and hope not!!

Why would a garage ask that to anyone!?... imagine if they asked that to everyone, im sure 99% of people would have no idea.

Dont really know to be honest why they asked just happens that two of them did. They must assume i know quite a bit about my car:doh:

I had a similar problem. New rear wheel bearings but the garage put c**p ones in from GSF and they didn't even last 6000 miles/18 months. OK, my car takes a pounding on the track but I was shocked. Now got some half decent ones in which I've been assured will be up to the punishment.

bingo! may well be worth checking them after about 20 miles as they often bed in a bit and go loose
