An 18inch space saver probably does fit because my 18inch alloy fits in terms of circumference.

I don't think I would feel overly safe driving a car with a 16inch wheel on any corner with 18s on the others - I know you should drive at 50mph max with the space saver but cornering probably wouldn't be great!

Has anybody ever had any joy out of the 'gunk' repair method? Tried it once on a previous car and the tyre wouldn't inflate. The RAC guy had to plug it road-side.

On my old Leon Sport I got a puncture 2 days before I was trading it in for my FR.... >_<"

It was on the shoulder of the wheel and was un-repairable, and that was taking it to several tyre shops!

I found my local National Tyres really helpful (they do the tyres for the service contracts for seat) and recommended that I try a 2nd hand tyre shop down the road from me.

I basically got a near perfect Pirelli P zeros for about £40......

Worth having a look around to see if you can find one of these companies..... most of the tyres they have are only partly-worn.

Bearing all that in mind, I only went for 2nd hand tyres because i was trading in my car and didn't want to fork out £120 for a new tyre!

It's a bit hit and miss with these companies sometimes.....
