I recently bought one for my 2003 LC,i will be getting it fitted 2nd of July, literally day after warrenty runs out.

I understand the filter sits somewhere in the wheelarch,is this correct?

I was wondering how the cold air gets brought in from there easier?

Also is there room to run some kind of cold air ducting to it?

Cheers guys.

yes

with it being out the way of the engine no or not so much heat will come into contact

Also is there room to run some kind of cold air ducting to it?

you wont need it as its open to the air behind the bumper

my car ran 190bhp when standed with just the Carbonio so i think its fine

hope this helps

the only problem i can see with the carbonio, which may not be a problem im just thinking from a theoretical point of view..

..if there is no direct flow of air over the filter, ie its in the wheel arch, wont there be in effect a vacuum type situation going on there and in essence a slight starvation of air?

I was wondering how it managed to get the air into the filter effectively.

Has anyone got any pics?

Basically no. I and plenty of other people have performed VAG-COM logs of mass air flow with the Carbonio CAI fitted and there is no loss of flow at all. In fact my LC was flowing about 156g/s which is very healthy indeed.

If you actually look under the car where the horn is positioned inside the bumper on the near side (approximatly where the filter element would sit) you see there is plenty of ways for air to flow both through the bumper grills and from beneath the bumper.

The real downside of having your airfilter 6 inches from the road is that it gets dirty very quickly, is a pain to get to and could suck up water in a ford or flooded road.

www.leoncupra.co.uk as usual - shows a complete how to guide - with a pic of where the filter sits (just besides the horn)

it is easily within reach from under the bumper - and you'll be suprised as to hold cool it is down there, and how the temp's are much lower.

I peaked at about 190 when first had my carbonio on.
