They do standalone ECUs for the 1.8T which appear to 'do away' with the MAF and DBW throttle. Anyone ever heard of this company or ever used them?

nice bloke..

built himself a pretty fats mk1 golf 8v turbo from "bits" and blew most people away.
also built himself a mk1 golf 4wd (synchro) 1.8T on T28 turbo, which was pretty rapid in a straight line... but fecking scarily flexible a shell when I had a rid ein it... biy god did he ever cane it from a standing start... the chassis twisted big time!

He knows his stuff.

Just got this from the guys at QPE....

Hi,

The MBE 992 ECU wont run with the DBW throttle. The MAP sensor we
supply is a 3 bar unit, so can run up to 2 bar boost.

The operate the ECU on a throttle position/engine speed based
strategy, so we dont run a MAF sensor as you say.

We run the ECU in closed loop 3D boost control (against throttle
position and manifold pressure) and it also trims boost according to
charge and coolant temp.

It can also take an input from a wideband lambda controller to give
full closed loop target lambda control.
