need to get these done pronto now, seen as i have found a bubble in one of my front tyres,

just wondering on what size spacer to use at the rear, seen as i use a 10mm there already im thinking 20mm may be too much, so may plumb for 15mm, or just another 10mm one, not sure

ok final steps,

once flatted and ready for paint, i used 400 grit and red scotchbrite,

its into the booth, and prekleened

then aerosol etch primer is sprayed onto any bare edges

then we go on with the grey

and allow to dry, note im using waterbased paints so it dries really quick, maskable once the paint flashes

once flashed off i used fine line tape to create my edge,

then maksed with 2" tape

applied the red, and flashed

then finally the clear coat, this has a matting agent in ti, ratio 60:40 this will give semi matt, once dry

i may yet go for a gloss finish though

the colour is a vw colour, thats ya lot, gotta be a bit individual haha

got the rest of the wheels done now,

there going to have the two new tyres fitted along with the full set being balenced, then i can finally fit them

Here's a pic of my de-baffled pipe so you know what to ask for.

I would'nt pay a lot to have this done as I dont think it made much difference to performance.

I think it was done by FEEL
I'v not done any log's so cant comment on flow rate's, It did feel a bit less restrictive though.
As for noise you can hear the Turbo spooling more, you might get more with an open cone filter.

I was talking to someone about this awhile ago and they suggested just cutting off the whole baffled section and welding a stright pipe in it's place, if your good at welding this would be a lot easier.

i ring wheel mania on tuesday to order 10mm spacers along with the longer bolts, he asks what et i need to go to etc, checks his little book and says you only need to go to 38 from 40 so 5mm will be ample, so i agree and order the 5mm, he says they will be in friday am.

so its friday am, i call them and ask if there in, "oh they went on back order! ( dint ring to tell me!!) but bms have some, so i order 5mm shims from bms and get sent 3mm, what is it!!!! [doh] so get the 5mm reordered for this aft,

just tried to fit the wheels now, and low and behold the spacers are too small aaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhh

so now the backs fit,

anyway, also decided i dont like the colour either, due to how light it goes in the sun, so not all bad

today i decided to black the inners of the spokes to darken the colour up, still not 100% on it yet, but i have got them on,

Looks too close to the car mate, the colour needs to go darker but love these wheels, they have grown on me now keep up the good work matey,

Those wheels look great! Good write-up of your refurb and spraying process too... something I will try and have a go at myself soon! Did you use a matt laquer?

no went for gloss in the end, bit of brake dust and they'll look matt soon haha

guna keep the wheels for rsale of the car so it can go back to standard, i was also thinking maybe darker, like i say once they get dirty i can gauge what they will look like
