Problems with 1.4 Sport pulling to the left

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum, a friend sugested i came on here because im having problems with my Ibiza 1.4 Sport 09 reg.

I brought the car back in March and everything seemed fine for the first month, then she started pulling gently to the left when i was braking. I didn't think too much about this at the start but after another month it got worse so i went to see the garage and they said there was nothing wrong with it.

I've been back to the garage 4 times since and they seem to think its fine, they did say it was due to my 17" wheels and that low profile tyres do tend to pull to the left when driving and braking.

I was just wondering if any one else has experienced this problem or something similar to it? Any feedback you could give me would be great, thanks Linzi.

I know the old mk4 ibiza and all other car's based on the chassis pull to the left. Mine does it horrendously!

Can't help with regards to the new one Ibiza unfortunately. Have you banged the front alloy or anything like that? It seems strange that it would be fine at first but then start to get worse.

No I've not banged the front. I have had some bang into the rear passenger wheel which cause the wheel alignment to be out. So i had to pay £830.00 to get that fixed, but now the dealership are blaming it on the size of my wheels and saying its normal.
But it has got worse over the last two months

Wow! £830?? Was this for a new alloys suspension and tracking body work etc? Did you notice it before this happened?

No the £830 was to check the wheel alignment and put a new wheel axle on the rear (including VAT and labour) It wasn't classed as under warrenty as there was a dent either side of the wheel.
I felt her pulling slightly a couple months before and i went down to the garage for them to check her over before the dent appearred.

Only thing I can suggest is go and get all 4 wheels laser aligned/tracked. TBH since I don’t own a mk5 yet I can't help you anymore. You will have to wait on some other people’s experiences.

No worries. Its why these types of forums are helpful. Usually get an answer in the end.

Only other thing I can suggest is taking it to another seat dealer if there is another localy and tell them that your not happy with your current dealership. Or take it to Skoda or WV (i'm guessing Audi labour will be pretty expensive). Since the new Skoda fabia is based on the same floor pan they will probably be pretty helpful.

hi mates

i had the same problems with my new ibiza but it was not that much as you told.

after that i went to service thay said everything is normal. And i have checked the tyre pressures and i guess that was the solution.(but here there is another point try different gas stations for tyre pressure)

also i have gone to service for the brakes because the pedal was very light and the car was not stopping on a hard brake. The service said again everything is normal.

Then the cars first service schedule in 15k came and i prefer to go to another service . all the brakes were checked and it is very good now.

please try another service dealer if you cannot find answers.

My Leon used to pull to the left. Turned out the tyre was buckled on the rear left and was slightly egg shaped.

Pulling to the left

Yep, mine does it too. It's not been hit or kerbed and has now been back to the dealer for the SEVENTH time after suffering a total electrical failure. The pulling to the left must be common to VAG cars, first they lent me a 08 Polo and then a 59 Ibiza, both pulled to the left. Surely this can't be right though? At 70 mph on the motorway if you slacken the grip on the wheel it darts off left.

Strange, i've definitely not had anything like that with my Ibiza, so something is definitely up with it, it's not something to do with the car, and i've got the 17" optional alloys too, so again, it's not your wheels

i have the same low profile tyres and 17" alloys on my 59 ibiza and i have not noticed any problems with the steering so i think it must be a localised problem, will keep you updated if i start to feel it pull lol
