A tough one that is mate, anything that's not "standard" will technically be classed as illegal.

Depends how far you go with it I suppose? I know my UK pressed plates are illegal, but they're not in your face and i reckon i would be very unlucky to get pulled because of them! I think they look a lot better than the standard plastic plates too.:)

Im not too bothered about font, some pressed plates would be nice, my rear plate looks a bit shabby so may aswell get 2 new ones but would rather subtle with correct spacing etc

Apologies for the bump, but these plates with the little badges and the line in the middle, surely no one can get away with that as they're completely illegal??

Also, does anyone know the penalty for driving with these types of plates including the German font if pulled over?? I'm really interested in these, they look top notch

The normal routine seems to be a £30 on the spot fine but depends on the copper imo

If it's a private plate and you've misrepresented it they can also give you a warning to confiscate it if they catch you again

Hi, my cupra had illegal plates on the when i bought it (not pressed alloy, just the wrong font) and i got pulled over buy the local traffic unit at which point they removed the plate from the front of the car and conviscated it and sent me on my way and told me to get some legal plates sorted asap, they also said that whilst traveling from the point they had stoped me at to the destination i was traveling to, if i got pulled over buy any traffic unit i would get 3 point on my licence and a £60 on the spot fine for failier to display a vehicle registration mark plate.[:@]

This was the first time i had been stoped so had not been given any previous warnings or anything like that.:(
