Hi all i am looking at getting my cupra alloys powder coatd black, i know the colour has been done to death but i like it against my red car.

I live in Leicester so am looing for any reccomended places that do a good job.

I have had one place quote me £40 per wheel, that is paying pound notes.

But what concerns me is he said they dont fully remove the tyre they just break the bead.
When i asked if he removes the weights he said "i will if i need to". How do you powder coat a wheel with out taking them off??

Thans in advance chris

About £80 for a proper job. Take into consideration that Black will need to have clear laquer over it to make it shine.

They have to bake the powder coat so if they leave your tyres on they will get baked too....................

Citypowdercoaters (google) will do it £30 a wheel if you take the tyres off. Had a few done there and they were great.

just googled them and the link below their website is a 'beware' link on a forum website, just spent 5 minutes reading through it. That guy didn't have a good experience at all, the finish looked awful!

That was in 2010 though, so they may have improved, obviously have if you are impressed with their work.

Place in bham is £65+vat or try bourne powder coaters in bham city centre. You will need to remove tyres and rhey do not repair but the coating is great, had 3 sets by them and all were flawless.

I've used the Wheel Specialist in Leeds a few times, they do an excellent job. Not cheap but top quality.

Is Cas coatings just a spray over at £18 a wheel? You can't even compare a spray to a full refurb.

Edit: Hmm, seems to be a refurb. Why is it so much cheaper?...

Edit2: Ahh, not a refurb just a strip and spray. See end of this topic: http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/315466.aspx?PageIndex=5

Cas coatings dont referb they strip and powder coat.
If i had spare set of wheels id prep mine and get them powder coated at cas. Seen some wheels there and they look spot on
