the tyre dosent appear to be going down...but as you can see there is well and truely something in there (considering im a carpenter..my guesses are a bent nail or something) what are my options?? if a new tyre is one of those options...then what tyre? (rear driver side)

Your options are simple...

Repair puncture
Replace tyre

Take it to a tyre garage and ask their opinion. They will tell you if it's safe and reliable to repair it. If so, they can do it for you hopefully there and then. If not, change the tyre.

If the tyre on the opposite side of the car is still fairly new, you can get away with changing just the damaged tyre for one of the same type, if that garage sells them. If the other side is worn, replace both. It's never a good idea to have odd tyres on the same axel.... that include different amounts of tread and different models of tyre.

If it isn't going down then its probably just gash the tread. Just pull out the nail with pliers.

Tendancy is that the flat area of the tyre can be repaired, where it meets the road. If its nearer the side wall or the side wall itself then its a new tyre. My guess is it can be repaired.

The nail is in the repairable area.

You need to take it to your nearest tyre place (I would recommend an independent, as they have a reputation to uphold). They shouldn't charge you to much.

Clicky here and print your own puncture repair gauge :bleh:

The repair area on a 225 section tyre is 159mm, which is approx 80mm either side of the centre line.

Also, regulation states that V, W, Y & Z rated tyres can only be repaired once...
