I have just bought a new radio and have noticed poor radio recepion on fm channels.Seat have said about fitting an amp in line with the aerial lead.Tried that -no better.Have also tried a new mast and aerial base as well. Has anyone else this problem.I plugged an aerial unit into the radio and held the aerial outside the car and the reception was fine.I don`t fancy taking the head lining down unless i have too.Cheers.

The OE aerial has a wierd amp/signal lead. I'm pretty sure i've seen some normal radio (for aftermarket stuff) to VAG aerial adapter.

yep - you'll need one of those ^^^ as pointed to - halfords charge about £18 which is silly - ebay etc should get one for about £12.

Certainly improved things on mine. Shorter aerials also don't help, so if your aerial is a stubby or whatever then the std whip-type aerial will give better reception.

Other than that, I just make sure RDS and auto-tune are enabled and I don't have a problem.

My car is an LCR 05.The head unit is alpine. It was a genuine seat part(amp). The aerial mast and base are genuine parts too.The amp only increases the general sound of every thing(distortion included).??

Just checked out that website. It looks very similar to the seat unit.

As far as i know it wasn`t damaged.Car did smartnav fitted before.Unless they did some thing when fitting this.Since fitting the base and mast i haven`t tried the amp again. Will give it a go.

Have just had a go.I noticed the small pin in the aerial lead was way too small for the aerial hole in the radio lead.I opened it up to fit better and re-connected the amp. So far so far good.Fingers crossed.
