just got 290 miles from a full tank of diesel, put it £46 to fill tank. Why so poor mpg? Have not been thrashing it or anything.

i wouldnt say they are rubbing no, although ive started to hear that horrible squeaky noise when i gradually come to a stop. I use to get good mpg, like 420 min out of a tank

I feel your pain, 350 if I really squeeze it.

I do put V-Power in it though, which is supposed to burn very readily versus standard Shell at least.

So, you changed where you're filling up your car?

Pushing it I get about 260, but taking it steady can get around 300... which is still a bit naff since I bought the small engine model for its economy!!! Used to get that in my 11 year old 1.4 Almera...

Shoulda bought a diesel :(

My daily commute is 30 miles each way along the A3 so I just cruise at 70mph! (A tankful of petrol a week) I drive "properly" at weekends :cartman:

Get an Ecomotive. Mine runs on fresh air! Had about £120 in it and i got 1107 miles from it brand new and its still got over half a tank in now so i will be getting more than 1107 miles for £120.
Love the car!

That's cool if that is what you want from a car! I would like more MPG sometimes but I want the grin-factor too. I think the next car I buy will be a hot-diesel to get the best of both worlds.
Saying that... petrol has plummeted in price now (91.9p in my local garage) so I'm not as bothered as I was a few months ago  Might even give Super Unleaded a go for a bit!
