mpg is always going to vary, heavy foot means heavy drinking. if you drive till you dump then thats the problem. i have the same in mine but when i take it easy its ok. you can always check the reading on vag com to see if you are over fueling!

Further to recent comments and replacing the MAF in can now confirm that I'm still getting 5-8mpg when the right foot goes to the floor in 2,3,4 but the car will not go below 13.1mpg in 5,6 gear....at last decent fuel economy.

I have just got back from a return trip to Kirkcaldy from Glasgow and was driving spirited ..lol i think is the term and averaged over 38mpg.

Trust me it was very spirited...lol so I'm happy with my mpg as I have even seen me crusing on the motorway at 70mph and getting 45-50mpg...cool

I'm going to change my panel filter when I fit my new forge DV.
Will let you know the results...

cheers again for all you responses.

Rob..

I managed to get 46mpg over a total trip in my mapped LCR the other week.

I was traveling around 55mph and slipstreaming big lorries though :)

what...

andycupra....is it that bad.... I thought 45 - 50mpg was pretty damn good..... lol

I must admit that once I get the car at 70mph I was hardly pressing the pedal at all to keep it constant.

Why what are you getting???

Sounds like you're looking a the dynamic mpg meter while the rest of us are looking at the average one. I can get 200+ mpg if I lift off when doing 60-70mph.
Basically, there's a cat in hells chance of a realistic average mpg of 45-60 in a petrol Cupra.
On a 10 mile journey from a cold start, the very best I've managed is average of 42.6mpg. Country and town driving, maxing out at about 55mph and with very gentle acceleration, gear changes at 2-2.5k.
At 70 on a motorway, I will average about 24mpg

Think that's what andycupra is chuckling about ;)

lol..... yeah

I get 200+ also,... but what I meant was keeping my foot at a constant postion in order to maintain 70mph.

Sorry I thought we were talking about dynamic mpg...lol

Generally then 35- 40mpg on the average one...lol

On the motorway at 70mph I can get between 27 - 40 mpg (average).

The benifit of the BT is that it doesn't start to spool till about 3K RPM, so at 60 MPH in 6th the turbo aint spinning and the fuel economy is great.
This 600 miles was done on A class roads in north Scotland

id dissagree with that.

very easy to drive off turbo in a bt car but i dont find it economical. its just harder work. your now pushing the whole car plus turbo along with a 1.8 engine.

ive found on low boost running the turbo very gently and changing around 3.5k on my car works best.

id imagine every set up is different. but ive yet to match pre conversion mpg:(

Well he has a GT28R on a 2001m Leon 20VT with cracked exhaust manifold, boost gauge and apexi boost controller. He is a very honest guy who doesn't need to lie to impress me so I believe him 100%
He drives as I state above, perhaps this doesn't work so well for IHI, but these are different turbos so that could be the case

i think the map would also play a big part in this. must admit i dont often try to be economical:redface:

Right well, rather than start a new thread for the same thing il resurrect this one!

Leon 1.6 S, 8v, always serviced every 6k miles, roof rack and occasionally a kayak on, seeing no more than 22.2mpg on a 52mile round trip i do every day!!!!!!

Now im gonna start driving like a saint this week, no vagcom faults, just done a TB reset as well, any other pointers?
