the parentals have bought me some mods for crimbo, everythings straight forward (i hope lol) but i' m having doubts about fitting the polo rear wiper. i read on a couple of threads that people have had to do abit of 'fitting' work. would anybody be willing to make a 'how to' thread in this case, or is their one available that i have not found? apologies if this is silly but i dont want to be going into fitting the mod heavy handed and having to hand out money i shouldn't have to because of my brut force approach lol

+1, would be really grateful if somebody could publish such info!

As far as I understand the washer cap needs to be sanded down to stop it scratching the rear screen, however how much sanding is required... I haven't a clue!

I have fitted 2 and never had a problem with the washer cap, seemed exactly the same to me. Dead easy mod, only hard bit is removing the old if its been on awhile.

As said sometimes it`s not required to "fettle" it when fitting but mine did. Blanco got it right it`s the cap that needs filing.

So when you get one, first fit it without the cap and test it out.
Then fit the cap and see if the bottom of it touches the glass.
Or if it squeaks when working then the cap is rubbing on the glass and will need to be filed down a bit. Don`t let it squeak for too long or it will scratch the glass.

This is the cap upside-down, just take a file to the entire bottom edge as shown to take a mm or two off.

I had to file my cap down slightly. You can file a bit off, fit it, check for contact and if necessary, file a bit more. It's dead easy to do.

Mine was ok without filing, went straight on ok. Must be a hit or a miss really, just go ahead and try it. Old wiper needs some persuasion coming off though

Mine needed a load taking off the arm as well as the cap, just take the cap down so it's the same size as the standard one and for the arm if it rubs just take enough off, but don't keep testing it as mine scratched due to too many trial runs :(

Yeah mine too:( I probably should have put sellotape or something on the glass while testing.
