 It's only the brakes and wheels. ;) lol... Anyway, it's the only thing I've ever done practically which hasn't been a complete disaster, so I'm enjoying it while it lasts! :cartman:

Do love the APs and the bite they have. I remember the brakes on my old TDi sport, and feel that bigger brakes are definitely needed on a lump like the TDI Ibiza.

Roccotune - I think they do it in blue. Worth popping into B&Q for a look.

I agree that there's nothing wrong with Hammerite either :)

Yeah, I had them refurbed a couple of weeks ago in a much brighter silver, which is also metallic, unlike the virtually flat standard ones. Makes the wheels look bigger and looks nice in the sun :D On some pictures it looks almost white though! The finish is powder coat and then lacquered.

The previous owner had curbed a couple of the alloys, and the lacquer was starting to flake off them unfortunately. There were also a couple of areas which would not come totally clean from brake dust no matter what I tried, so I don't think they were cleaned often before I owned it!

HTH :)

I had a few hours free today so I decided to paint my 312mm callipers. I had tried for ages to find a high gloss silver, I had tried Hammerite but wasn't happy with the dull finish. Thanks to CupraOl I found out about Japlac.

I gave the carriers and callipers a few coats but the brush marks stayed and didn't blend together . I tried using a finer bristle brush but that didn't help. Looks like I'm going to have to rub them down again and spray them with a silver engine lacquer, unless you lot have any other suggestions?

I used a 1/2 inch brush and also a 1 inch finer brush. I used the same type of brush when I painted my callipers before and they came out fine...not a brush stroke in sight.

I had already sprayed the carriers with Hammerite, so I rubbed that down and applied the Japlac over that. On the callipers I just painted over the standard Audi finish which I had rubbed down too.

Hi G60JONNY

Did you have any success with your PINK Calipers and UK SEAT? I have a 59 plate Cupra, Calipers were absolutely fine and then took into MK SEAT for the 10,000 service, got home to find the two front Calipers were now PINK!! MK SEAT tell me it's due to hard breaking?!! They washed the car and wheels at the sametime. They were fine before it went in. Comments?

Does anybody have a 59 plate with 10K on the clock and Calipers that are still bright red?

I hope not!

If I didn't know better I would say they have changed the calipers...

I've found certain alloy cleaners don't do the callipers any good, I've recently repainted mine, they look awesome again ; )

I find it hard to believe that your callipers can fade from going in for a service!?

My old man took his car into a garage once with 4000 odd miles on the clock and when he picked it up was advised the brakes needed doing! after 4000 mile!!! the discs and pads were wrecked but cant happen after 4000 miles. Garage must of changed them to get a few more quid. Cheeky barstewards.

Also had a mate who bought a irmisher (cant spell it) astra with a sporty exhaust. When he took delivery of the car he noticed it had like a 1.1 ltr drinking straw exhaust. Went straight back to the garage and they found his exhaust in one of the vauxhall mechs tool boxes.

I really dont trust garages any more :(

When i bought my 55 plate cupra two years ago with 9k on the clock mine were also pink too. Took off the wheels and lightly sanded them down with some fine wet and dry to get a good key then painted them with some high temp engine pai t from my local car motor factors. I personally painted the whole caliper then once dry i 'cut' the excess paint off the seat sport logos with a stanley knife blade and quite a number of people have commented on how good they look now. Didnt strip the caliper down either as i did them in situ.
