Hi all,

I'm looking to purchase a used 1.8 TSi with DSG from Perrys which is just over 3 years old, so I am considering purchasing an extended warranty and see that they offer an Easy Care Guarantee; which would cost £400 for 2 years Gold Cover.

So I'm just wondering if anyone on these forums has experience of this product, as I cannot find any reviews of it online

Or is it worth paying the extra for the official Seat scheme, which weighs in at £300+ per year...

make sure you do double check what is covered by the Easy Care warranty compare to Seat one

this is where you need to be careful buying used cars i found this out first time i bought a used seat leon 3.5 years old.

if the car is from a seat dealer check if its under used/approved if so should be a 12 month warranty automatically. other way they do it is that if not used / approved its whats classed as sold as seen - your rights differ is theres a major fault

If your buying from a dealer, them saying it's sold as seen is just bollox, if there is a major fault or any sort of fault that you wouldn't have expected to happen - taking into account age and mileage - they have a legal obligation to rectify it.

If a dealer tells you it's sold as seen, walk away and buy from an honest dealer

Out of curiosity which seat dealer was it, could be handy for anyone on here buying a second hand seat, so they know which one to avoid

I only got wise to that when I bought a mk2 fr170, was 3 years 8 month old, at the time cam belts were due at 4 years and it hadn't been changed and I asked why.

Got a load of crap from dealer who then back tracked and claimed it was there policy to change if was due in the 6 months up to being 4 year old

I am so cautious and conservative about stuff, I got a warrantywise quote for my daughters 58 golf GT Sport (with the too-complicated turbo/supercharged 1.4). It's easy to tailor it to the hourly rate you want them to pay, and is very comprehensive and good value.
If you want to take out insurance against big bills....but the dealer SHOULD provide a warranty, even if it's a 3rd party one. The guy we bought the golf from threw in a 6 month RAC Platinum one, and increased it to 12 months in negotiations. If a dealer sells with no cover - walk.

Thanks for all the replies.

I had a look through the bumph and Perrys Easy Care is administered by MAPFRE ABRAXAS.

It appears to be pretty much the same Gold Plan Warranty as that offered by InsureAndGo, I don't yet have forum privileges to post the URL but here's the bullet points for anyone who's interested...
