Recently just got round to buying a PC5-52 Amplifier for the stereo as after changing the factory fit stereo for a Sony CDX-GT23 I had no MW reception, wired it all into place correctly and it had made he-haw difference! Still no MW reception.

The chap in Halfrauds said to clip in into the "Blue" wire, which according to my manual for the stereo is the "Power Antenna Control". - Is this correct?

The four wires I have from the cars' power supply are:-

  • Yellow - Continuous Power Supply
  • Red - Switched Power Supply
  • Blue- Power Antenna Control
  • Balck - Ground -(I know it doesn't go onto this one!)

I think it should be on the yellow or red wire ....

I think that blue wire is for putting up a powerd ariel, which you dont have. Look on the back of the headunit, you should have a wire coming out of it labled antenna amp or similar. Failing that wire it in to either the red or yellow wire above. You want the switched live, and I cant remember which colour this is, I think it might be red as seat do it the wrong way round. You can check to see which one it is by checking for a voltage between the red/yellow and the black wire. The wire you want is the one which supplies power only when the ignition is on.

hmm i had one of them when i went to remove it it broke.... i have to get the hole lot cut out and then a new adaptor fitted.

for teh sake of not having MW i wont be installing another one lol

i ran mine from the amp lead on the head unit (the one that switches on / off amps).
